PERMANENT: A Couple in Prospect Park

“PERMANENT: A Couple in Prospect Park (being together)” references Dawoud Bey’s stunning image of a young couple in love in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park from 1990. Through original choreography and music inspired by themes of love and togetherness, we attempt to capture the essence of this primary emotion as well as Bey’s generative creative process. The unique collaboration between The African Diaspora Art Museum (ADAMA) and Komansé Dance Theater was performed at Fort McPherson as part of Elevate Atlanta and filmed at the High Museum of Art between October and November 2021. The project features an original music composition by Okorie Johnson and AshaTune.
