PERMANENT is a multidisciplinary
art experience that takes works
by African and African-American
artists in museum permanent
collections and brings them to
life.
Permanent is a unique collaboration between ADAMA and Komansé Dance Theater, in partnership with Atlanta’s High Museum of Art.
PERMANENT is a multidisciplinary art experience that takes works by African and African-American artists in museum permanent collections and brings them to life.
In dialogue with signature art objects, ADAMA, Komansé Dance Theater, and Orchestra Noir create and present one-of-a-kind experiences that take the works by Black artists beyond museum walls and into Atlanta’s historically Black neighborhoods.
“PERMANENT” was created to address a legacy of exclusion and disconnect between arts institutions and the Black community. By reinterpreting these works through original music and choreography, the project aims to demystify the arts and provide more intimate contact and greater accessibility to these culturally significant works by Black artists.
